Jan's Coast To Coast Walk

Coast To Coast Walk · 27 June 2021
Hello all,
As everyone is aware, the pandemic has had a huge mental toll on both the young and old. I recently found out that in 2019 the suicide rate among men and boys was 16.9 deaths per 100,000, the highest since 2000. These stats are done by the Office for National Statistics.
In 2020, the ONS reported 845 registered suicides in England alone between just April and June. This happened during the peak of the coronavirus. I cannot imagine the impact this has had on the families and friends who have lost these 845 people, and also for the suicides that occurred during the rest of the year. Hence, I’m hoping that I will be able to raise awareness for a great organisation like Mind.org.
Me and my step-dad are going to walk from one coast to another in England for this cause. That’s a 300km walk over 13 days! I believe everyone with mental health issues deserves help in any way possible and I want to do my part. With your help, we can ensure the people struggling around us receive the support they need to help prevent any further unnecessary loss in our community.
Thank you for taking your time in reading this and I hope you all take care of your mates around you. If you feel like somethings up with your mate call him. Even a text will do.
