Fundraising for Rockinghorse Children's Charity
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to raise money for the Rocking Horse Children's Charity, the fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton(the Alex).
Two years ago our eldest son James became increasingly unwell, resulting in weight loss, lack of energy and generally feeling ill. Numerous trips to the GP prompted a blood test, which showed abnormally high calcium levels leading to an eventual diagnosis of sarcoidosis. We hadn't even heard of this auto immune disease, let alone understood what it was!
We spent the best part of two months at the Alex that summer with James having every examination and test possible in order to determine the best course of treatment, a highly stressful time for us all, especially James!
The Alex were amazing! The staff could not have done any more for us all as a family. Outpatients, L7 day surgery, L8 surgery, L9 medical, theatres, x-ray and respiratory dept all became familiar places to us and each time the staff were amazing!
James is slowly getting back to his old self, although he has had three operations and is still taking long term medication, his energy levels and his smile get bigger every day!
We feel extremely lucky to have the Alex on our doorstep and can't thank everyone enough who have helped us along the way! It is a slow journey back for James, but he couldn't be in a better hospital to receive treatment.
Please help me to say thank you to the Alex by raising lots of money towards helping other children just like James!
