Story
Yes!!! We did it!! Thought it was going to be wet and miserable, as it was raining as we drove to Port Eynon to the start but the rain cleared. Hurrah! However, the first mile or so was very rocky and slippy with the wet and Di, slipped and fell, bruising her shoulder. Boo!! However, she got up and carried on. Hurrah! We all supported each other - Terri, Di, Me and Carmen, Amy, Bethan, Kate, Paula, Kelvin, Jill, Steve, Steve, Simon, Lucy and wonderful Winnie, the labrador. I can't pretend it was easy - it ain't as flat as Suffolk - but the sun shone, we had sandwiches at Pennard and we enjoyed lovely views and some nice photos ( see above). We sat on the bench dedicated to our dad ( which we do every year) at Langland and arrived at Mumbles cricket club to A LARGE PINT.
14 miles in 5 hours - but that included an hour's stop for lunch and stuff on the way. . We then had a quick shower and went off to the Proms in the Park in Singleton Park, Swansea. What stamina!
Thanks so much to everyone for so generously donating. This is the 4th time I have done this walk, with my sisters. I feel a bit guilty because it is a wonderful day, through stunning scenery, a paddle and a swim, in the bays of my childhood. But I am also very aware that so many friends have suffered - and are suffering- from cancer. Last year I lost my dear friend, Lynda Bellingham, who starred in many of the comedies Gavin and I have written. Lynda and I had an hilarious holiday in the Maldives ( pic above). She was greatly helped by Macmillan and this is one way I can help them, in her memory.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
