Story
Myself and a wonderful team of 14 others (David Thomas , Dave H, Chris H, Rob M, Greg M, Alex L, Mia, Sam E, Steve L , Alex. Z , Marvin , Jorge , John Brimacombe and Chris Foley) are cycling from Bristol to Paris in June 2023 over 4 days to raise funds for St Peter's Hospice Bristol - a challenge that is approximately 250 miles/400km!
On 24th August 2022 we lost Dad (Ewan) after a challenging few years of health issues.
After a particularly hard few months in and out of hospital, Dad was able to move to St Peter's Hospice in Bristol for his last few weeks. We cannot thank the Hospice enough for their care - everyone from the reception desk to the doctors and nurses. Once at St Peter’s, Dad said he was so grateful to be "treated like a human again" . The care provided from everyone at the Hospice, as well as the building and gardens, was incredible not only for Ewan but the whole family.
This cycle hopes to raise some funds for St Peter's Hospice so that other patients and their families can have the care they deserve at a particularly challenging time for all.
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Their commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of their care is provided free of charge, but it costs them around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money they rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and their shops.
An example of what £3000 can do:
*£3,112.50 = 150 therapy sessions for bereaved families and children.
*£3,213.00 = keeps our 24-hour advice line open for 9 days.
*£2,662.00 = total average cost of caring for two patients in their home, where most choose to be.
Thanks team!
