We raise money to support sick and premature babies

Story

Hello! Jamie here :)

I’m running the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday 22nd May (wish me luck), and will be running for the amazing charity First Touch!

First Touch is the official charity of St George’s Hospital’s neonatal unit but are a tiny organisation, employing just 2 part-time staff; Louise and Sarah, who oversee the running of the charity.

They specialise in looking after babies who are born ill or premature, but due to COVID restrictions the only people, other than necessary hospital staff, who are currently permitted at the NNU are the parents of the babies. To stop the spread of COVID, which would be disastrous for such vulnerable patients, even siblings and grandparents are not able to visit at this present time. This coupled with the cancellation of mass participation events like marathons and fundraisers have resulted in a struggle to raise money.

Any donation, big or small, is a huge thank you to the amazing NHS staff at St George’s hospital who do so much to give sick and premature babies the absolute best chance of a bright future.

The charity also has an Amazon Wishlist, which contains a range of small items which make a big difference to the babies, their families and the staff who look after them. Please see the following link: www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/26Q9C727AQQUR?ref_=wl_share

Thank you!
