Story

In April 2018 at just 17 months old, my first daughter Amelie became acutely unwell and was admitted to hospital and subsequently diagnosed with a life threatening condition - Aplastic Anaemia. Her only hope of survival was a Bone Marrow Transplant from an unrelated stem cell donor.

Anthony Nolan sourced a 10/10 match for Amelie and arranged her donation be collected from our HERO David Wilson, a stranger we now class as family and who joined the stem cell register selflessly as his close friend needed to find a match himself having fallen ill.

Amelie received her Bone Marrow transplant and second chance of life on 19th June 2018 - just over 5 years ago and is now completely cured and living her best life as a happy, healthy 7 year old girl - thanks to David, Anthony Nolan, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Manchester & Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

I've pledged to raise £1500 throughout 2024 - £250 for each year Amelie will have had her transplant when I run the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon - this will raise vital funds and awareness of the great work the Anthony Nolan Charity does and will have been doing for 50 Years in 2024!

Thank you for any support &/or monetary donation you can offer - it is so appreciated & will help save the lives of others facing blood disorders & blood cancer.

For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life. Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match. By donating to our page, you will be giving more people with blood cancer the chance of a future. Together, we can keep saving lives.
