UPDATE!!!
The total sum raised (including GiftAid and funds matched by my work) is now over £4,000! Many thanks for everyone's support.
And it's not to late to make further donations for this terrific cause...
UPDATE!!!
This didn't quite go to plan...
A decade on, the collapse came at the 16 mile mark rather than 25.5 miles. And although the missus insisted on no more rub-downs from St John's Ambulance women, I was unable to resist.
Thanks for all your support and hopefully I'll have better luck next time (currently planned for the year 2023...)
-----------------------------
I swore never again...
My one previous marathon attempt was a decade ago. It wasn't exactly a roaring success. Unless success is defined as running 25 and a half miles, but then collapsing 800 metres from the finishing line and spending the next 90 minutes in a St John's ambulance van...
...until now!
This time will be different, of course. I'm older and (possibly) wiser. And lightning never strikes twice, right?
More importantly, it's for a great cause. The Stroke Association does terrific work, not only through helping stroke patients and their families, but also through funding research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation.
So please sponsor me now! Your support is very much appreciated.
Many thanks Jamie
