Story

Hello friends,

I am running my first marathon on April 23, 2023 in aid of a charity very close to me, MND Association UK (aka. ALS or ‘Lou Gehrig’s disease’ in North America).

My personal connection to this brutal illness came into focus when one of my oldest and closest friends, Kenneth Mitchell was diagnosed with ALS a few years back. Ken, an acclaimed and accomplished actor, received this devastating news while living in Los Angeles with his wife Susan and two children Lilah and Kallum. Ken continued to work on high profile acting projects post diagnosis (Star Trek: Discovery, The Old Man with Jeff Bridges etc.) but has since seen this disease rob him completely of his mobility. Ken now lives with full time care and can only communicate through a special iPad on which he uses his eyes to form words and sentences. Despite these unimaginable challenges Ken’s positive attitude and humour are unwavering, uplifting his own spirit and those around him, but the illness currently has no cure.

Don’t expect any record breaking times from me, but I hope you can help contribute to my London Marathon run in honour of Ken and all who are impacted by ALS.

Big thanks,

Jamie
