Story
As many of you will know, in December of last year my Dad - Steve Leven - passed away in what were very sudden and quite frankly earth-shattering circumstances. What many of you will not know is that he suffered from haemophilia for most of his life; a rare medical condition which reduces the blood’s ability to clot and results in significant bleeds from the smallest of injuries.
Having had a long think about what to do next to do next after my Dad passed away, I have decided to raise as much awareness for this condition and hopefully some funds along the way, with the help of some of my closest friends.
My starting point: a team of ten lucky individuals and I have decided to take on the challenge of Tough Mudder. Hardly a walk in the park, the course involves a 10 – 12 mile run combined with 20+ army style obstacles (including a casual run through electric wires and the incredibly strong likelihood that we will be electrocuted).
We’ll be raising money for The Haemophilia Society - a London based charity who work alongside volunteers from all over the UK to provide support, information and healthcare services to those affected by bleeding disorders while also working to influence government policies to ensure consistent and accessible treatment to all those who suffer from blood- related disorders.
Any funds that you could send our way would be greatly appreciated - it’s a great cause and every penny you give helps to provide support to those suffering from the condition, and us with much-needed motivation to complete this grueling challenge!
