We provide specialist palliative care to comfort patients and their families

Story

On the 27th June, myself and some friends will attempt to cycle from Holyhead to Cardiff, following the Lon Las Cymru route.

The route is 254 miles long and accumulates over 18,000ft of elevation, following country lanes, bridal ways and quiet roads. Hopefully, the challenge will take us 5-6 days and we will reach Cardiff on the 2nd-3rd of July.

The route (National Cycle Network route 8), once off Anglesey, heads South over mountainous Snowdonia, cuts through the Llyn peninsula,  hugs the coast through Barmouth then travels inland, navigating the valleys of mid-Wales and the testing Brecon Beacons before joining the Taff trail for the final leg down into the capital.

As if that doesn't sound testing enough, at the end of each day we will be scouting the forests, quarries and beaches for somewhere to set up camp and bed down for the night.

As a lot of you will know, my Dad passed away in 2017 after a four year battle with Motor Neurone Disease. I will be raising money for Nightingale House Hospice, as the help and support offered to us by the staff during my Dads last days was nothing short of incredible. Without their expertise, we would have struggled to make my Dad's last days as comfortable as they were. For that, the least I can do is try and raise them some cash. They are a local hospice who treat patients from Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham and costs over £8000 per day to keep running.

I will be posting regular updates on my training and all things related at:
