Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and sorry for Phoenix's face - it's the most relevant picture I could find. He has somehow managed to convince me to take part in the London Triathalon this summer. I've decided to fundraise for Bipolar Uk as an extra incentive to get me training and not bail on it - I could deal with letting Phoenix down, but not you!
Bipolar is a very serious illness which has a huge impact on both the people that suffer from it and those close to them. It is a disease often overlooked or made light of, with a negitive stigma making it all the more difficult for those who are affected.
Bipolar Uk is an active and commited charity determined to give the people that are affected by it the best possible experience when faced with such a difficult burden. Bipolar Uk acts by providing support services for people with bipolar and their families and friends, and also by working alongside researchers to continually improve and develop new medication, and to help spread awareness to minimize the impact of the ignorance-born negative reputation.
I appreciate that alot of people are struggling with money at the moment, especially those of you student friends, but if you can have perhaps one less beer next time you're out, or make yourself a sandwich instead of popping out for lunch, even a couple of pounds will make a difference! If even that's not possible, I ask that you atleast challenge the negative stigma behind it - here is an interesting website which shows some of the misunderstood facts http://www.bipolaruk.org.uk/bipolar-info/.
