Story
In August 2018 our youngest son, Jude, was born. He was 5 weeks early and went into the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Great Western Hospital (GWH).
He weighed 5lbs, half his body was completely blue, he couldn't maintain his own blood sugar levels or body temperature and he had high levels of jaundice. The first time we were allowed into SCBU to see him was daunting and very tough but all the staff were amazing. They explained everything to me and Abbie (my wife) and helped us cuddle and feed Jude as much as we could.
He was out of SCBU and back with us after a few days (but remained in hospital longer) they continued to monitor him closely, even after he was discharged.
Our family is so thankful to the facilities and wonderful staff in the SCBU at Great Western Hospital, Jude is now 5 months old and thriving. The time has therefore come for me to give back to SCBU to ensure this unit continues to grow and offer outstanding care to babies (and their families) in need of it.
Any donations you make will go towards the SCBU Incubator Appeal to help raise funds for the replacement of 5 incubators.
Thank you
