Story
We did it!! Home safe and sound from the Arctic with all fingers and toes intact!!
Our amazing trip to the polar ice cap is over and Alex and I successfully completed the 26 mile 385 yard marathon in a time of 7 hours 37 minutes - not exactly going to break a world record but I don't suppose that that matters. It wasn't as cold as it has been in the past but very strong winds meant that, with wind chill factor, the race took place at around -20 Celcius. Out of a field of 25 runners who took part, we came 13th.
Adding a bit of icing on our cake, we had the privilege to meet Sir David Attenborough at Camp Barneo (the Russian logistics camp on the ice). I was lucky enough to be given a 10 minute interview with Sir David which really made my day - it's not every day that you bump into a well known person at the North Pole!
The whole trip already seems miles away but I will certainly never forget the wonderful wilderness and beauty of the polar region - quite fantastic!
Thank you all once again for your generous donations and your words of encouragement - they're much appreciated.
