Fundraising for Vale House Oxford
Last year Bill Heine from BBC Oxford somehow convinced me to say "yes" to something before I knew what it was... by the time I realised I'd have to learn to dance, it was too late. So here I am - taking part in Strictly Oxford 2015.
From 14th March I will be training twice a week to learn several ballroom and latin dances from scratch, and will then be performing them at the New Theatre, Oxford - in front of a (potentially) large audience on 25th April.

I am utterly, utterly terrified. If any of you have seen me dancing recently (and if you have I can only apologise) then you'll understand how much of a challenge it will be for me to learn to "dance" rather than to just gyrate in a rhythmless way.
I shall be fundraising in memory of my dad, Thunderbirds creator - Gerry Anderson, who died from complications relating to Alzheimer's Disease in 2012. From caring for him in his final years I know how essential top-quality care is for those living with dementia - especially in their final months. Vale House is one of those care homes that is able to provide top-level, sensitive care, and is focussed on enabling those with the most severe forms of dementia to live with dignity and comfort in their final months. From personal experience - I cannot emphasise the importance of specialist care at this time care enough.
Vale House provides specialist dementia care in Oxford - and famously cared for Iris Murdoch in her final months.
