Story
Hello my name is Jamie, and I'm going to do my best to raise as much money for the people of Afghanistan. While we all see the level of suffering they're going through, we can't begin to comprehend what they must be going through. As a father of three I cannot conceive of a situation where I have to fear for the safety of my family on a daily basis.
Currently 1 million children are at risk of dying from malnutrition, 95% of people do not have enough to eat and the temperatures could drop as low as -12 degrees celsius.
The Disaster Emergency Committee is a consortium of 15 charities who offer the most effective support during large scale humanitarian disasters.
My aim is to cycle, with a good friend, to the 25 schools of the Trust I work in (St Ralph Sherwin CMAT), covering a distance of 188 miles (or thereabouts), with a collective 15,000 feet of climbing to boot. We will spread the ride over three days (16th, 17th & 18th Feb 2022), with two nights of sleeping outdoors (or one in a bothy in the High Peak). It's no John O'Groats to Lands End but it should be a good challenge, and it's likely to be pretty chilly.
If you can support this fundraiser, we know it will go to people who are in severe need of basic, life giving support. If you do, thanks so much.
Thanks
Jamie
