Hi,

My name is James, Most of you will know me through family,friends etc but for those of you who don't, Hello!

I'm a Firefighter serving in Harrogate and through my job I see fellow firefighters injured and off work through fulfiling their duties to the public (that's you.)

We have 3 rehabilitation centres in the UK entirely funded by sponsorship & donations. Most firefighters directly give money straight from their wages each month & most firefighters are involved in charity events each week from car washes to running a Mararthon!

I personally have been injured in a car crash some years ago and suffered spinal & neck injuries that put me in a wheel chair! The surgeons put pins & plates in my neck but its entirely down to the support & hard work of the people working at the rehabilitation centres that allowed me to regain full functionality & to get back to my role with North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. It took 1.5 years but I am now a serving firefighter once again!

As a thank you we have raised money in a number of ways the latest attempt is to raise funds by completing the New York Marathon! I'm not a runner & never have been & I don't really like running, but someone mentioned raising funds for the firefighters charity & I could not resist. I have lost nearly a stone already just doing the training. (Which is not easy )

If you have received this email then you have a friend that knows me or a friend of a friend that knows me, the money is not for me but for the charity that helps thousands of firefighters each year without putting an extra burden on the NHS.

All I am asking is for £1-£2 or what ever you can afford & to then pass this web page on to all in your address book.  (Firefighters are always there for you when you need them, now this time we need you!)
