Story
Phrenix is a Charity we have set up to support children who cannot take up a sport or physical activity that they love. Recognising the mental and physical benefits of activity, we are working with local authorities in the South West to identify disadvantaged children who would most likely benefit from Phrenix support. This includes paying for team or individual sports coaching, after-school sports clubs which require fees, kit, training, equipment and/or tournament fees.
Our charity was set up in the memory of Josh Dimery, who tragically took his own life in 2020. Josh was a huge part of the South West surfing community and so our Charity is also looking at options to provide surfing-based opportunities for children with Special Educational Needs.
I will therefore be running the Weston Super Half Marathon on the 27th March 2022 and, in memory of Josh and his contribution to the surfing community, I will be doing it with a 5 ft 4 inch surf board strapped to my back.
This will also mean that, in preparedness, you will see me running around the streets of Somerset (and hopefully some Parkruns) with said surf board on my back, raising awareness of the charity. If you fancy joining me for a run or two to spread the word, please let me know!
Any donation, big or small, would be hugely appreciated and would go a huge way to helping our aspirations to support physical and mental wellbeing for children through sport!
Yours hoping it won't be windy on the day!
