Story
I am running the 2023 Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising money for an amazing charity. Please support us by donating to this brilliant cause.
Gliobla-what? Glioblastoma. Quick Google. This is serious...
So let me tell you about Dom. We met on the first day of secondary school, went to Uni together, went through ‘life events’ at similar times such as engagements, weddings and kids, lived close to each other and would play golf weekly (in fair-weather of course). There are very few people I’ve met who, whenever you go to meet them, you know you are going to enjoy your time with them but Dom was one such person. Dom collapsed at work in early 2020 and was quickly diagnosed with a brain tumour. He underwent surgery, chemo, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, endless amounts of physio and even at points when he was clearly in pain, he was unfailingly polite and retained his sense of humour as far as humanly possible. Dom fought his battle up until April this year, when he passed away surrounded by those who loved and cared for him. As a sign of how others viewed him, rather than just my clearly bias opinion, it was standing room only at his funeral.
Dom was one of the good guys, a great friend, loving husband and father and a friend to most of us since we were kids.
Many happy memories will help push me and my friends, James, Nick, Tim, Simon, Renae towards the finish line, just like every single penny that gets fed into researching a cure and supporting this fantastic charity is a step in the right direction.
Please consider contributing to support The Brain Tumour Charity and thank you all so very much.
