Story
Hello everyone!
I did it! Made it round in 3 hours, 39 minutes and 51 seconds, which given the conditions I was pretty pleased with.
Many of you will be thinking, “does that mean he didn’t achieve his #3hourchallenge?” Well… thankfully I had been saving to protect against the possibility of this occurring and I have made good on my commitment (I will let you check the maths at my justgiving page)!
Thank you all so much for your very generous support – kind words of encouragement and, of course, the sponsorship money! Sunday was also an opportunity for me to speak to some of the people from the YMCA and I can definitely say that they will benefit hugely from the amount raised. Again… thank you!
Until next time…
Many thanks,
James
Further details:
It was six years ago that I ran the London Marathon for the YMCA in a time of 3 hours 11 minutes. I thought it was time to give it another crack on 22-April 2018.
My fundraising will be split equally between the Downs Link Group (DLG) YMCA (where my Dad is the Chairman) and YMCA England and Wales. The YMCA does an amazing work helping young people to belong, contribute and thrive in the communities where they are. Check out the DLG page here: https://www.ymcadlg.org/what-we-do/
For a bit of extra fun this year I am taking on the 3 hour challenge. Add #3hourchallenge to the comments against your donation (along with your name) and commit to double your donation (up to £50) if I beat the 3 hour mark. I will double your donation (up to £50 per person and £500 in total) if I fail to hit the 3 hour mark. #timetostartsaving
