Story

Thank you all for taking the time to have a wee look at my fundraising page...

I am running the Bristol Half Marathon in September this year and will be fundraising for two very important charities. Now for me, this is an incredibly ridiculous idea - I am not a keen runner, or an active person in general. I'll be honest, I hate exercise! So you may be wondering why I then would chose to do it!

My close friends and I will be running in memory of our dear friend James Roberts, who we lost in a tragic car crash in November last year. James was a very influential person; not only was he a character that would stand out amongst crowds, he was a man that did a lot of charity work himself. With his dedicated team up at JRFS behind him, he has raised well over £6,000 for a charity he held close to his heart, The Wiltshire Air Ambulance. He raised money for this registered charity through many events, and we'd like to continue to raise money for a charity that helped him and many people we know, so they can continue with the amazing work they do. The charity is not funded by the government and costs £6,850 a day to keep them flying! They are able to save lives by getting to people in need in rural places such as Wiltshire, that aren't easily accessible. This allows victims the necessary transport to get them to hospital as quickly as possible, and it is SO important that the money is raised to enable them to continue with their work.

The second charity we will be raising money for is RoadPeace, another non-government funded charity. RoadPeace is the national charity for road crash victims, who provide practical and emotional support to victims through a helpline and befriender network. RoadPeace also campaigns for justice for victims and road danger reduction policies that champion the needs of vulnerable road users. This has been an important charity for families who have lost loved ones, and one that has helped Vicky Craig; our very close friend and fiance to James, through an unimaginable and very difficult time.

Linked to my page is our Team Page, 'The Disciples' - which will show the link to Vicky's Page. She has explained there in detail why RoadPeace and The Wiltshire Air Ambulance have been so influential, and why these charities need people like us to continue to provide them with such support. The Team's Page will provide all the links to my friend's pages so I beg you all to dig deep and help us all by donating whatever you can - Please Please Please!

My page will be linked to raising money for RoadPeace. The plan is to raise money for both charities; if you feel you would like to donate to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance then please do through Vicky's Page, and RoadPeace through mine. ANY donation is worth it, thank you.

I will update you all by uploading pictures and videos (if you're lucky), of our gruelling training!

I promise to do James proud and finish that damn Half Marathon!! Bring it on!
