This August/September I will be attempting to complete both the 24 hour three peaks challenge and the 24 hour 100km Thames walk within one week. All money raised will be donated to The Blood Fund of The Imperial College Healthcase NHS Trust
With my mother working in the Haematology department at the Hammersmith Hospital for the majority of my life I have seen first hand the fantastic treatment, care and cutting edge research provided by the hospital and its fantastic staff.
The Blood Fund supports the world-renowned Hammersmith Hospital Haematology department, which cares for people with a wide range of serious (and often life-threatening) blood disorders including Leukaemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, Sickle cell disease and Haemophilia.
The Blood Fund enables patients to access ethically approved clinical trials which aim to improve our understanding and management of these complex conditions, as well as the provision of specialist haematology and clinical trial nurses. Specialist nurses provide an invaluable role in supporting patients and facilitating trials.
The fund also supports important research, including that of young doctors in their early research careers, through the provision of access to facilities and laboratories.
