Story
In January 2020, Cure Leukaemia began funding the £3,000,000 Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network which comprises 12 specialist research nurses at blood cancer centres across the UK and a facilitatory Hub based at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
This network allows pioneering clinical trials of blood cancer to run ensuring we can give our patients the best possible options for their form of blood cancer. Without our funding, these trials would not run and patients would miss out on these potentially life saving treatments.
Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer and as we provide funding to 12 blood cancer centres I thought it's a great idea to run 14 km 12 times to represent each one of those centres
The impact of COVID19 has seen a shortfall of £1.5m fundraising for Cure Leukaemia this year but we are determined to maintain our commitment to funding the TAP hence my 'TOUR of the TAP'
If you're able to donate in some small way that would be fantastic to or if you fancy taking part you can do too virtually!
My Tour dates are...
Birmingham 12th Nov, Cardiff 16th Nov, Belfast 18th Nov, UCL 21st Nov, Nottingham 23rd Nov, Leeds, 26th Nov, Manchester 30th Nov, Oxford 3rd Dec, Southampton 4th Dec, Glasgow 7th Dec, Guy's/ St Thomas' 9th Dec, Sheffield 11th Dec
Thanks as ever James
