Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page:

I hate running, but I’m running the London marathon  to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer uk. Pancreatic Cancer is the UKs 5th biggest cancer killer, and has an average 5 year survival rate 10 times lower than the other 4 biggest killers however receives relatively less funding than the others. From diagnosis we had just a few months with my mum before she left us, and it seems that this is a regular trend, 50% of those diagnosed are dead within 3 months (stats from PCUK) so as well as finding cures, early detection is also a vital research area and one that PCUK is funding. Early detection will give people previous extra time to spend with their relatives even if there is nothing that can be done to change the outcome.

This is a cause that is very close to me, and I hope you’ll give me and PCUK your support to help make  pancreatic cancer a death sentence for fewer people. The way to do this is through research in to early diagnosis and treatment and any contribution big or small is hugely appreciated.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
