I'm taking on this challenge in memory of my grandad - Kenneth "Big Dog Ken" Howle.
Gone but never forgotten, Ken spent the end of his life living with Dementia. Having seen its gradual effects I can't imagine many things more difficult than having to face it by yourself. Thankfully Ken had the love and support of his family until the very end, but many others aren't so privileged.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.
Too many people face dementia alone. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
