What if your child had toothache and no hope of help ??
70% of the world have no access to a dentist nearly 3/4 of the worlds population
3 out of 4 people globally have no chance of ever seeing a dentist
90% of people in developing countries have no hope of help when they have dental disease.
Without help untreated disease devastates every area of daily life and complications can, and do, lead to death
VERY FRIGHTENING STATISTICS
Bridge2Aid trains existing local Health Workers to provide safe emergency dental care to communities where there is no dentist.
Training is carried out by volunteer dentists and dental nurses who spend 2 weeks in Tanzania, East Africa with Bridge2Aid as part of a Dental Volunteer Program ( DVP)
As part of the DVP we will be treating the local communities providing emergency dental care to some patients who have been in pain for several years, travelled several miles on foot , and waited patiently in the blistering heat to see us!
At the same time we will be passing our skill and expertise onto the Health Workers so they can carry on the work once we leave.
The cost of the DVP lies solely with each volunteer and is in the region of £2250. This includes travel to and from Africa, internal flights in Africa and food and accommodation whist there.
We feel very excited and privileged to be part of this program. Not only do we get to provide help to the local community but more importantly we leave a legacy behind to continue our good work.
