Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. It was 18 months ago now that I completed my first half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research and the support from friends, family, collegues and members of the public was overwhelming. I am now going one stage further and going completely crazy by competing in the London Marathon in 2015, hoping to raise a substantial amount of money for Cancer Research once again.
7 years ago my Grandfather was diagnosed with cancer of the asophagus, and within 3 months this a unforgiving disease claimed his life. He was one of the nicest men you would ever hope to meet, he was not only my Grandad, but a loving father and husband. He had a real zest for life, enjoying his sport (especially Somerset cricket), bell ringing and travelling the world. His death came as a huge shock and we suffered a great loss in all our lives...we still miss him dearly. I know that during his cancer treatment his hospital team did all they could to make him comfortable throughout that difficult time. Without the support of doctors and nurses, medical equipment that period of time between diagnosis and his eventual death would not have been as comfortable for him. The NHS do an amazing job of supporting cancer patients. I would like to show as much support as possible to the teams of people who look for ways to fight this deadly disease. Cancer Research UK use charity contributions to try and save lives through prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This charity is not government funded and so relies heavily on every pound donated by members of the public and I would like to help them fight cancer with your help. I would be really appreciate any donations towards my charity.
Thank you :)
