Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am lucky enough to have been accepted to run in the London Marathon on the 22nd of April 2018, which is only WEEKS AWAY. "Yikes........! Please wish this old man some luck, cos I'm going to bloody need it!
Actually, I'm gonna need far more than luck, I gonna need all the support I can muster from as many people as possible.. This is where I invite YOU and your family, all your friends and everyone else you know to help support me....... I hope you all do as I have pledged to raise FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for an amazing cause....The Charity I have chosen is THE STROKE ASSOCIATION, who help raise money and awareness for Stroke Victims and their Families.
If possible, I would also appreciate your extra added support by sharing my page to as many people as possible via email and on all forms of social media...... Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
This is gonna be a crazy journey for me, please be part of it.
Why am I doing this??
Over the last six year I have personally spent a lot of time with a family whose world was totally blown into a million pieces exactly 5yrs ago to the day of the marathon, when the husband/Father of two very young children, unjustifiably had a totally catastrophic stroke. Leaving him 95% paralysed, 70% blind and with a severe speech impediment. This has left him 100% dependent on others.
It goes without saying that this has had untold consequences on him, his children and wife (Family) in every way humanly possible.
Even more upsetting is; Mentally the husband is still laser beam focused and totally “compos mentis” which ultimately means he has been left a prisoner in his own body since the second it happened. His wife instantly became a full time carer, single mother and equally as heartbreaking, in her own way, a prisoner to this catastrophe and the impossible circumstance, of what was once a beautiful family and normal world.
It’s been totally heartbreaking to watch. I could not begin to imagine what it must have been like to live through and continuously have to do so.
I have seen the family struggle to survive emotionally, physically and financially due to the impossible circumstances. Please help........
Because, the total lack of support and understanding from the council and government just totally exacerbates what already is an impossible situation, ultimately leaving the family with no true quality of life, hope or aspirations for the future.
Strokes are totally devastating to individuals, families and lives. Furthermore, in many cases, “strokes are preventable!!”
I’m sure most of you will agree that Awareness needs to be significantly raised......... From my perspective, “It’s an undeniable fact!”
Unfortunately, only Money, Cash, Spondulicks is going to help to raise the awareness needed. "Please remember my friends.... this catastrophe could happen to anyone. I find it heartbreaking and virtually unthinkable how many other families will go through the same unjustifiable journey unnecessarily.....
We need to educate, as it really is the only prevention.
Furthermore, only Money is going to help to put in place the support and care desperatly needed to help the thousands of Families already devastated by strokes.
This is why myself and Caroline Peart, AKA CJ or Caz (the wife, mother and carer of the family) have made the decision to run this monumental marathon.
I’m doing the marathon for all the above reasons. However, on a “personal” level, it is to give Caz the help and much needed support all the way to the finish line on April the 22nd.......
Please peeps give generously and help me and Caroline raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause, to help prevent as many families/children as possible from having to ever live through the same eternal struggle..
Thank you.
