Story
Croydon Amphibians 22 relay team of six are swiming the English Channel to France. We will be making the crossing at the end of July. The distance to cover is at least 21 miles, most likely more, depending on the tides. As pool swimmers, it has been a challenge in itself to convert to open water swimming and get used to the elements - from freezing cold temperatures and choppy seas to swimming in a lake in the dark. We have dedicated hours of our lives to swimming training, aiming to compete at the highest level. We know how invaluable swimming is and the benefits it brings. Some of us are now part of the CASC coaching team, seeking to pass on our knowledge and passion for the sport, and inspire young swimmers.
For these reasons, we have chosen a charity who encourage and support swimming. We will be fundraising for Level Water. They, and we, believe that ALL children should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water and they use the power of swimming to improve lives of children with disabilities.
Any donations are gratefully received!
