Story
James Bryan was a keen wildfowler and shooter all his life, and he supported the work of the Game Conservancy (now the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust) and their various projects including in relation to grouse. They now have an urgent appeal to fund a research project into woodcock numbers. Their earlier study followed concerns about an apparent decline in population leading to some calling for woodcock to be taken off the UK quarry list. Their initial study had encouraging results with an uplift in estimated numbers alleviating some of the concerns but a further study is needed - hence their urgent woodcock appeal.
Rather than sending flowers to his funeral, a donation to the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust would be greatly appreciated. A donation of £65 would cover the cost of sponsoring an individual woodcock so that a detailed analysis of its migratory habits can be made, but any donation would make a difference.
Father very nearly had a right and left at woodcock with muzzle-loaders at Middleton, and support of this research would be a lasting legacy for his memory in relation to a cause that was close to his heart.
