Story
Come April 23rd 2023 Lydia and I will both be 56 and running our
first ever the Marathon in London. Some will think us mad, if you’ve ever run a10km or half marathon you will know just how big a task this is! Lydia has been a NHS nurse for over 30 years and, in that time, has met some wonderful people and heard the most incredible stories of courage and love. Some of the people she has most admired have been parents and families with children suffering from life-limiting illnesses and conditions. We are fortunate to have 4 healthy Grandchildren and a 5th due in early 2023. Other families are not so fortunate, and we want to do something of real significance to help them. We have decided to run the London Marathon to raise money for the amazing Shooting Star Children's Hospices which supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, Shooting Star is there to make every moment count for the whole family. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement for as long as is needed with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care with real love and humility. We know how very blessed we are, and we would love your support in raising funds to help families going through an unbearable journey.
Please donate as much as you can, especially those with
businesses and even deeper pockets! We would both really appreciate your support, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts and our very achy knees!
