Setting off with our Carradice saddlebags packed full of cheese and Marmite sandwiches we aim to complete the journey in just under three weeks. Joe, aged only 14, has youth, vigour and lycra on his side. James, aged 42, has creaking knees and bicycle from 1976.

We're hoping to raise money and awareness for Action Duchenne. Action Duchenne is a national charity that aims to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a severe genetic muscle wasting disease. Due to progressive muscle deterioration, loss of movement occurs, eventually leading to paralysis. The average life expectancy for patients with DMD is around 25. 

It's a charity that is close to our hearts – a family we know have two boys who have been diagnosed with Duchenne.
