Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page as I aim to raise money for SportsAid via participation in the London Marathon 2019.
As many of you who are visiting this fundraising page know, I am a very keen runner and by my involvement at my local running club (in the capacity of Chairman) and local parkrun, I try to give back to athletics in my local area as much as possible. I now felt it was time to help athletes on a national scale and SportsAids values, ethos and aims give me that opportunity.
SportsAid helps the next generation of British athletes by providing them with financial support, recognition and personal development opportunities during the critical early stages of their careers.
Since 1976 it has supported athletes such as Sir Mo Farah, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Sir Steve Redgrave, with more recent recipients of grants been Para-Olympian swimmer Ellie Simmons and track athlete Dina Asher-Smith.
SportsAids impact can be backed up by results from the last Olympic and Paraolympic games in Rio where over 150 medals were secured by athletes who had seeked the support of the charity.
