Story
In August last year, my son was admitted to Addenbrookes hospital with Bronchiolitis RSV strain where he was immediately ventilated. He spent over two weeks in PICU before he was moved to a high dependency ward for recovery for a further 2 weeks. This obviously was a very stressful time for myself and my family. However, the amazing staff at The Sick Children’s Trust made this time easier.
The trust went above and beyond to ensure this awful time was made less stressful for us as a family. The hospital was over 80 miles from our home and they provided us with free accommodation at Acorn House; this is on site, keeping us close to our son the whole time he was in hospital.
We will be forever grateful for the trust for providing us with this, as it avoided a significant cost and an added stress that we did not need. Most importantly, it allowed us to be with our son when he needed us the most.
The Sick Children’s Trust could not survive without the generosity of their supporters and fundraisers to enable families to remain with their seriously ill children whilst in hospital.
To raise money for this amazing charity, I will be completing the Great North Run on the 11th September 2022. I would be very grateful for any donations, great or small.
