Story

Welcome to my fundraising page, for what is quite possibly the most insane idea I've had to date, which given my track record is saying something!

I've decided, although it's been brewing for some time, to walk the South West Coastal Path. It runs from Minehead, in Somerset, following the coastline around Lands End, the Lizard, past Plymouth and finally ends in Poole, Dorset. In total, the distance is some 630 miles - if you want to get an idea as to just how far this actually is, please look in the photos section, I've uploaded a map that details the route.

I'm looking to walk the entire path, predominately solo, in no less than 6 weeks, starting sometime in July (an exact departure date hasn't been confirmed yet), and finishing towards the end of August/ early September. Once I get underway, the journey will be documented via Facebook and Twitter, with pictures, videos and updates coming as often as I get the chance to do so.

A lot of you reading this are probably asking: why do such a thing? I think that a better question is why not do it?

As I'm sure you all know, the conflict in Afghanistan continues to claim lives on an almost daily basis. However, we tend to forget the servicemen and women who sustain injuries that, whilst not life-threatening, have a significant impact on their lives. Through my exposure to military life over the last three years, I've become ever more interested in contributing to charities that help and aid wounded servicemen and women, to rehabilitate them into civilian life, and in some cases to get them back on ops in some capacity. Therefore, all the money raised through this page will be given to Help for Heroes, to help pay for the construction of the new Rehabilitation Centre at DMRC Headley Court, amongst other things

So please, please, please donate - even if you do nothing else today, donate, and you will have not only my gratitude but also the gratitude of every serviceman and woman who benefits from the stunning work that Help For Heroes are doing!
