James's London Marathon Fundraising for Charcot-Marie-Tooth

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was lucky enough to get a place through the University of Leeds at the London Marathon in April. This has now been postponed to October which only means that I have more hard work to do over a longer period of time!
Although I do a lot of running there is a huge difference between running a fast 5k and running for 42k! Over the next few months I will be trying to stay injury free and will be balancing getting up at 6am to squeeze in a 2 hour run with my university studies.
My first thought upon getting the place is that this is an amazing opportunity to raise some money for an amazing charity. Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) is the most common hereditary disease in the world. The family on my father's side are/have been affected by the disease so I know first-hand the life-changing impact it can have. Sadly my grandmother is affected which means that my father has a 50% chance of being affected by it and there is a possibility that I may also suffer from it later in life. Currently there is no treatment or cure for CMT - only care and support to make sufferers lives easier. This is incredibly important for people suffering from it and I believe this is a very worthwhile cause to raise money for.
I have set myself the very ambitious target of £2000 so any donations big or small are very welcome. Thank you in advance!
