Story
We are from the Wyre Forest station of SARA and have decided to enter this event to help raise necessary funds to support our organisation. The event covers a large part of the undulating Shropshire Hills area.
We will be covering the 42k challenge within the allotted time while carrying our full search kit rather than a lightened load. We will also be sticking together as a team and entering into the spirit of the event with other competitors as we make our way round the route.
SARA are a lifeboat/water rescue & land search organisation that covers the River Severn from the old Severn Crossing at Chepstow up to the Shrewsbury area. We provide: 3 inshore lifeboat stations linked with the Coastguard; 3 Mountain Rescue qualified landsearch teams for Gloucester, Gwent, West Midlands and West Mercia Police Forces; 5 Inland water rescue teams and boats to assist the Fire service and Police; 4 DEFRA spec Flood rescue teams that can respond to flooding anywhere across the country.
The team is made up entirely of volunteers who give up their free time to provide this service and as an organisation we are purely funded by donations.
