Story
Some of you may know that I've been training for an Ironman in Portugal for over nine months.
This week the event was cancelled due to new Covid-19 regulations, so as the old saying goes; when life gives you lemons, just do the Ironman yourself and raise some money for a bloody good cause.
For those unfamiliar with an Ironman, it is a triathlon consisting of a 3.8km swim into a 180km bike ride followed by a full marathon.
Spending 13 hours exercising outside as we approach the British winter isn't an ideal way to spend a Saturday, but I wanted to take this opportunity to support a community that is in dire straights.
The pandemic has devastated so many lives, not least those working in the arts who have had their main source of income wiped out with no real prospect of when it might return.
That is why I've chosen to raise money for Help Musicians, a fantastic charity that is doing incredible work to support artists during this dreadful time. Their 100% pledge means that every penny donated goes straight to the frontline to help struggling musicians with no other means of assistance.
The arts industry is such a crucial part of life in the UK, let's make sure it's still there when we come out the other end.
Thank you so much for any donations, they are hugely appreciated and will make such a difference.
