Story
Updated at start of January 2019:
Last June, my eldest daughter, Bethany (aged 19), was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. At the end of December, she completed 6 months of chemotherapy with a positive outcome. We are so grateful for the excellent treatment she received, but we have also been supported so well by CLIC Sargent for the wider support she, and we, have needed.
I am running the marathon to: practically show my support for Bethany as she battles cancer so positively; give back to CLIC Sargent who have helped us; and and support other children, young people and their families who have to face the reality of cancer.
I've never run more than 5 miles (when I was 21!), and so running the marathon in April (aged 45) will be a huge challenge for me, but one that with your support, I aim to complete to the best of my ability.
Originally I hoped to raise £100 for each of the 26 miles of the marathon. Due, however, to the generosity of so many people over the first 2 months of my fundraising (giving over £2000), and wanting to raise as much as I can for CLIC Sargent over the next 4 months before the marathon, I am increasing my target to £150 per mile (aiming for £3,900 total).
I am therefore increasing my training regime to try to run the marathon in the best time I can, and so I need as much encouragement as you are able to give!
Please support me as generously as you can, as I run for a much bigger cause than myself, and please follow my progress on this page over the final 4 months of my 6 month journey.
Thank you so much.
