Story
My lovely wife-to-be booked a charity skydive for my 30th birthday and I have decided to jump in aid of SHINE. They are a great charity having provided lots of support and guidance for my friends family. Here is what they have to say:
George was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida is a birth defect where the spine doesn't form properly. George has three vertebrae missing in the middle of his spine, which led to his spinal cord and fluid to cause a lump on his back. He had to have a major operation at Gt Ormond Street Hospital at just 4 months old and was told he will never walk. This was due to the operation being so delicate and operating so close to all his nerves. He has had another two major operations on his back and will have more to follow throughout his life. George is now 7 years old, he can independently walk, although, is partially paralysed from his waist down and tires very quickly. George needs a wheelchair most of the time as his muscles and nerves are weak in his legs. That leads me to the brilliant charity Shine!
SHINE is an amazing charity that works very close with families that need help and support with spina bifida. They have been a huge support to us as a family and have guided us in the right places. I have contacted them countless times and they have wholeheartedly given their time and advice whenever it has been needed. Without the charity there, I would not know where to turn or what to do. They have professional advisors to help constantly and always happy to talk. Your donation will allow them to continue to help other children and/or adults with spina bifida.
