We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We’ll so much to New Year resolutions, but this year I was completely stuck as to what to resolute.

After many successful pledges (as being perfect in every way), what could I do for 2011?

This year I thought of putting ME first (ha ha)!

So what could it be, some major challenge, not just getting fit, losing weight, doing more swimming, exercising- I know, why not all of them!

Today I got confirmation of my entry to the British Gas open Water Swim!

So now I am committed to the challenge.

The challenge is to swim 1 mile in open waters, June 11th at a Reservoir near Ipswich.

Now though, you need to know why this could be a major commitment.

The dreaded broken scales read 259lbs, blood pressure on easy at 195/110 on a good day.

Those who know me, I’m not afraid of a good walk, 10 coastal miles when I get the chance is easy.

I love a good swim ANUALLY when on holiday, and hey I’m only 58!

Money is going to be a big motivator, it’s cost £32.00 to enter, I’ll need a swimmers wet suit (if I train and diet properly, then another near the date) and proper wet suit speedo’s!- No I’m not begging, this is for ME!

So today is the last day of junk food and sweets.

And hopefully not another resolution waste.

I will keep you all posted on my progress.

WELL 11 DAYS TO GO!

I've managed to cut down on the fast food, but exercise has been reduced to a bit of work on the "tools".

All the wet suit is here, but frightened to try it on.

Will be going to the pool next week, and hopefully a dip in some open water for a practice.

I know I said that this was not a request for donations, I will be making a donation myself, but we have all over indulged over the years and could all be candidates of Diabetes, so it may help others in the future.

Diabetes UK is the leading charity working for people with diabetes, funding research and helping people live with the condition. Its mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and to work towards a future without diabetes.Any donation you are able to make will help us make a huge difference.

Thank you in anticipation of your kind support.
