Cycling 100 Miles for Guide Dogs

Prudential RideLondon 2019 · 4 August 2019 ·
I had an amazing dog when I was young. He entertained me, comforted me, and protected me from harm. I cannot imagine what it would be like to suffer from sight loss, but I know that if I were to lose my sight having a Guide Dog would be one of the few things that would make it bearable.
So I have chosen to ride the Prudential Surrey 100 mile bike ride on August 4th in support of Guide Dogs. This is the olympic road race route used in 2012, including the now infamous Box and Leith hills. I have done the route once before and it is definitely challenging, though a lovely opportunity to cycle closed roads with the route starting in the Olympic park and ending in front of Buckingham Palace! It should take 5-7 hours of solid cycling and it would be great if you could donate to my cause! Feel free follow my training on Strava and even look out for me on the day as I will have a gps tracker showing my progress online!
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
