Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page.
We are doing a sponsored walk from Ballycastle to Ballintoy on 26th March 2023 in support of the Royal Victoria Hospital Liver Support Group. A group that has been very important to me and my family through my journey from diagnosis of Non-Alcohol Liver Steatohepatitis (NASH) to a liver transplant, at Kings College Hospital London.
The group provided an invaluable service to me and my family. Help was only a phone call away day or night. They provided accommodation near the hospital in London for my family member who accompanied me over for surgery and gave constant advice and emotional support to us all. All with the extra pressure of covid restrictions.
More information of The RVH Liver Support Group:
The Group was founded in January 1998 by Kay Duffy OBE following an ambition she had after her husband Frankie had a successful liver transplant in 1995. The group is now in it's 25th year. It is an independent Northern Ireland based registered charity (NIC100892) with a network of volunteer liver patients and their carers providing confidential, compassionate, emotional and psychological support for all adults, teenagers and children coping with any liver condition. The Group operates throughout Northern Ireland.
The group also support the Royal Victoria Hospital Liver Department providing much needed specialised equipment, support to staff and ongoing training of staff. The support group takes a lot of pressure off the patient and their families.
Funding is very important to ensure the support group continues to provide this service to other people waiting on a transplant. Many patients after transplant support the RVHLSG by fundraising so the group can continue to support new patients.
