CANCER SUCKS
On average 1 in every 2 of us in the UK will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in our lives. Almost 40% of these are preventable.
Without talking about scary mortality rates, it is fair to say that it can ruin lives. Even survivors, or the family of those affected, can be very hard hit.
I lost my partner, having beaten cancer once, she lost the fight when it came back for the rematch. Most of us know someone recovering from or suffering from cancer. I have chosen to deal with my loss by doing something to help those that come after us in the fight against cancer
So, I am doing something that will push me, and make me work hard to complete. This short, fat, unfit bloke from the North of Scotland is going for a long walk in the Swedish Arctic Circle. The
5 day backpacking hike, through the northern wilderness of Sweden, will definitely be a trial. Between the weather, terrain, bugs and beasties, I will be challenged at least.
Whilst I am cold and wet, I would ask those of you warm and dry to think of donating a couple of quid, to the charities that may well be of benefit to you or your loved ones should the worst ever happen.
My Employer, Taqa, has also kindly offered to match publicly raised funds within reason, so any donation however small can help more than you think.
Thank you for the time to even consider helping those suffering now and in the future.
