Story
Working for National Ugly Mugs I know how important their work is, and on how slim a budget they do it, so I'm going to put my feet and my masochistic tendencies to good use to help out.
Sex workers face crime, abuse and stigma every day, and are frequently erased from or demonised in the public and political discourse which frames their work.
National Ugly Mugs first of all listens to and works for sex workers, giving them an all too rare assurance their experiences and their voices will be listened to and taken seriously. NUM also produce safety alerts to inform sex workers nationally about dangerous individuals, and empowers them to report crimes against them to the police and to access support and justice, despite the barriers which they encounter due to stigma and discrimination.
Finally they campaign for political and policing changes that will give sex workers the safety, security and respect that they deserve, and that workers in other industries enjoy as fundamental rights.
It only costs 10p to send a potentially life saving alert to an individual, so any contribution you are able to make could make a huge difference!
If I manage to meet my target of £500 I have some secret sponsor bonuses and stretch goals planned, so you're not just supporting a good cause but also bringing a little more mystery and intrigue into the world!
