I was looking forward to this year. I thought I could go further than ever before. Until late June when I strained my ITB. it wasn't until last week that I got back on my bike. It is on the mend so we should be OK on 11th September 2021. In my tradition I will be wearing a shirt and tie for my cycle ride after all I will be visiting about 30 Churches and cycling about 50 miles. 

Few people will know about the work that FOECT and all of the other counties equivalent trusts. Their purpose is to help fund the restoration and works needed by churches to keep them standing. They will provide a top up or an emergency fund to help any parish with necessary works. The Ride and Stride event is the biggest annual boost to funds. 

I cycle for Rettendon All Saints Church. This is the church where Lance still cuts the grass, Victoria was the churchwarden for may years and Kim and I married there in 2004. Every £2 I raise is split between All Saints and FOECT. £1 to each. 

Last year a lot of people didn't do the event because of Covid so I will just say please sponsor me this year with whatever you can afford because the work of FOECT and every parish to keep these amazing buildings in good working condition needs cash but even more importantly the support of everyone.
