Story
Sport and exercise have always played a major role in my life, and I believe those early opportunities to get involved in team sports forged my passion for being active and ultimately leading me to a career coaching health and fitness.
Playing sport not only helped me keep fit, but it helped me build friendships, understand team dynamics, I learned how to win and stay humble and lose with grace, I developed a healthy competitive edge, built confidence, and learned the importance of practice and hard work to improve.
For me personally, sport was one of the only areas of my life that I was able to bond with my father and I consider myself extremely fortunate that he made sacrifices so that he could pay for me to play
football (and all the other things that come with it) as a child.
My father, William Hutchison, sadly passed away after catching COVID-19 in March 2020. It was an extremely tough time for me and my family as we were unable to be with him during the 9 days he spent in hospital before he was taken off a ventilator. Due to the restrictions at the time we couldn’t even give him the funeral he deserved. It quite simply feels that he was taken from us without a trace.
For this reason, I have decided to take part in a ‘Coast to Coast’ challenge in his home country of Scotland. Over a two-day period (September 11th and 12th 2021) I will be making my way from Nairn (near Inverness) to Fort William via running, cycling, and kayaking – 105 miles in total.
I will be doing this in Dad’s honour and would like to raise money for a charity called www.accesssport.org.uk – this fantastic charity has a mission to help those in most need gain access to sport in the community and enjoy all the benefits that come with that. Something my father made sure myself, my brother, and sister all had.
Please donate anything you spare.
Huge thanks and big love to all
