I am honoured to be taking part in CEO Sleepout. Please help me raise as much money as possible for this important cause, raising awareness and funds for the Homeless and people living in poverty in the UK. I am sleeping rough on the streets of Manchester for one night on the 15th October 2018. It will be cold, damp, dark and frightening but it's just one night, for so many they face this fear every night.

Homelessness is devastating, dangerous and isolating. On average, homeless people die at just 47 years old. People sleeping on the street are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence. Homeless people are over nine times more likely to take their own life.

It is wrong that anyone is homeless in a country as rich as ours. The latest figures showed that 4,751 people slept rough across England on any given night in 2017 - a 15% increase compared to the previous year, and more than double the amount in 2010.

People become homeless for many different reasons. There are social causes of homelessness, such as a lack of affordable housing, poverty and unemployment; and life events which cause individuals to become homeless. We are all equal and they are ordinary people just like you and me.
