Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to run the 2021 London Marathon on behalf of Hospice UK. Each year, this fantastic charity provide vital care for approximately 225,000 people across the UK with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, as well as providing support for many of their loved ones.
The charity's great work touched my family in 2014/15 when my younger sister passed away from cancer in May 2015. Miranda received care primarily at our family home, and also at a local Hospice. The carers all acted with great respect and kindness and were clearly very well trained, and they always worked whilst helping maintain my sister's dignity at all times. They supported us as a family through what was an immensely challenging time, with great compassion and physical care. So I am delighted to be able to run on their behalf and provide much needed funds to help them extend the services they offer to other people, and families going through similarly difficult circumstances.
I would be so greatful for whatever you feel you can donate, and can assure you that your donation will go directly to the charity to support the 220 Hospices across the UK, and the £1billion they need to be able to provide that care each year.
It's been 13 years since I ran my only other marathon, so quite some time ago! So whilst training is going well so far, it really would give me some further additional motivation to see my donation total move towards/beyond my fundraising target.
