Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you are aware, at the start of March, Harry Staples, a very close mate and key member of the University of Birmingham's Men's Cricket Club was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. He has recently undergone the first stage of his chemotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham as well as various tests, transfusions and antibiotics. Furthermore, with the recent outbreak of coronavirus, for the last 3 weeks, he's only been able to have one visitor stay with him.
The Teenage Cancer Trust provides young people with cancer specialised nursing care and support, helping those diagnosed by providing world class services to demonstrate togetherness, encouragement and assistance throughout.
As a result, I have decided to support Harry and this amazing charity by running the equivalent distance from the Physics Building at the University of Birmingham, to Stamford Bridge, and then to Wokingham Cricket Club, three poignant and relevant locations to Harry. This distance equates to 237km, which is 7.7km every day during May, however, I will round this distance up to 248km so it averages at 8km a day.
So, starting on 1st May 2020, I will run every day of the month totalling the 248km, with the aim to keep to 8km each day, but some days may be shorter or longer than others. I will post daily updates of runs on the page and social media pages (Instagram and Facebook) to show progress..
Please donate to this wonderful charity, as I know firsthand the unbelievable work and support they've shown for Harry, his parents and brother, Jake. At just 21, Harry's life has been impacted massively by the devastating news and I want to show my support for the charity who is brilliantly helping him, and other teenagers, through this challenging time. Around 2,200 15-24 year olds are diagnosed in the U.K. every year with cancer, please help this charity to continue to support these teenagers during the difficult periods they face.
