Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
50 of us are cycling from London to Newcastle to take part in the Great North Run, raising money for the MS Society.
When my friend Davey got in touch to suggest this challenge, I'll be honest and say I had little idea what MS was. Davey had chosen the charity because his Dad had suffered from MS. So I thought it was time to find out a bit more about it. Turns out it affects many people and there is no known cause or cure. It seems to be one of those diseases that most people don't really know about - just like me. It doesn't necessarily tug at the heartstrings like a starving child in Africa; it doesn't get the same level of priority in the NHS as more immediately life-threatening diseases like cancer. So, sufferers do that, they suffer. The MS Society is a vital resource to help those people live normal lives, to cope with the physical and mental stresses of this nasty illness. If I have to put up with a few hours of discomfort to help raise awareness and a bit of cash, then it seems a small price to pay. The bike ride will be fun; it's the run that will be uncomfortable.
